It’s been a happening year so far for The Art League — we’ve been on TV, radio, and a national magazine!
CNN came by the Madison Annex last month as part of a segment on Danielle Gletow, who started the One Simple Wish nonprofit for children in foster care. Art League instructor Lindsay Pichaske gave a sculpture lesson to a foster child, who made a clay sculpture with the body of an eagle and his own head:
The School and Gallery are featured in the March issue of American Art Collector, along with artwork by instructors Danni Dawson, Robert Liberace, and George Tkabladze! The profile on page 74 is part of their Art Lover’s Guide to collecting fine art in DC and the Mid-Atlantic states.
Art League President Nancy Pane Fortwengler was featured on the cover of Elan Magazine in January. Their profile touched on Nancy’s career in pastel and her “intensely dramatic” paintings.
The Gallery’s current exhibit in the solo room, “State of Emergency,” was featured on WAMU’s Art Beat segment last week. (Come see it by April 1 if you haven’t yet!)
And finally, listeners of the Mike O’Meara Show podcast were pleasantly surprised last month when the Patrons’ Show came up in their Oscar’s World segment (here, about 3/4 of the way in). Oscar talked about his experience at his first-ever Patrons’ Show, when he was lucky enough to have his name drawn early.
