Philadelphia Craft Show
Late deadline: April 12, 2013. The 37th Annual Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show, a juried exhibition and retail sale, will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from November 7 to 10, 2013, with a preview party on November 6. The jury will accept 195 craft artists. For more information and to apply, click here.

Figurative art
Deadline: July 8, 2013. “In the Flesh 4″ at Target Gallery returns after popular demand. This is an all-media exhibit that invites artists nationally and internationally to submit work for consideration that includes the human figure as its subject. Exhibition dates: September 7–29. Public Art Proposals
Deadline: April 12, 2013. The Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Department of Parks and Recreation invites individual artists and artist teams to submit a creative concept/proposal for a work of art to be mounted in the Southern Regional Technical/Recreation Complex in Fort Washington, MD. The available area is approximately 8 feet wide and 7 feet high. In keeping with the overall theme of the building, the Public Art Selection Committee is seeking highly creative, dynamic and innovative concepts that combine art and technology in some way.  Individual artists or artist teams from Maryland, Washington, DC or Virginia are eligible to apply. Art Uniting People
Deadline: April 12, 2013. This year the Mental Health Anti-Stigma HOPE Campaign will celebrate National Mental Health Month in May through “Art Uniting People – A Celebration of Creativity and Mental Health.” This is an art exhibition dedicated to making a difference.  It seeks to engage the Alexandria community in a conversation about each of our uniqueness and commonality. Strictly Painting
Deadline: April 19, 2013. McLean Project for the Arts is calling for entries to this summer’s “Strictly Painting” exhibit. All Mid-Atlantic artists (DC, VA, MD, PA, NJ, DE, WV) are invited to submit up to four jpegs of paintings or works related in some way to painting completed in the last two years and not previously exhibited at MPA. International exhibition
Deadline: April 20, 2013. Viridian Artists in New York City will have its 24th international juried exhibition, consisting of two-dimensional and three- dimensional art works in all media. Juror: Elisabeth Sussman, Curator, The Whitney Museum of American Art, NYC. Awards: First Prize $300, Second Prize $200, Third Prize $100. All winners will be listed on Viridian’s website. Visualizing Change, Inspiring Action
Receiving: April 30, 2013. The Gallery at Convergence has issued a call for artists: “What do you see? What moves you? What challenges your assumptions? Ask yourself, ‘What potential does my art have to move people?’ Imagine, and dare to inspire action outside the gallery walls!” For more information, find the call for entry PDF here and entry form Word doc here.

The Artist’s Magazine Competition
Deadline: May 1, 2013. The Artist’s Magazine is accepting entries for its 30th Annual Art Competition. More than $25,000 in cash prizes will be awarded, and Top Award Winners will be featured in the December 2013 issue of The Artist’s Magazine. All winners will also appear in a special online gallery. National Small Works exhibit
Deadline: May 18, 2013 (early bird deadline April 17). Washington Printmakers Gallery’s 16th annual Small Works exhibit is open to printmakers age 18+ nationwide, creating hand-pulled prints (no digital or photographic processes) under 170 sq in. First Prize: Solo exhibition, August 2014. Second Prize: $200 Purchase award from Graphic Chemical and Ink. Third Prize: $150 Gift Certificate from Utrecht Art Supply. Fourth Prize: $100 Gift Certificate from Renaissance Graphics. For more information and to enter, click here.

Deadline: May 18, 2013. The (e)merge art fair connects emerging-art professionals from around the globe with collectors, curators and cultural decision makers in Washington, DC. Applications are now open. For more information, click here.
