UPDATED Deadline: June 10. The Art League School’s Summer Art Camp is currently searching for two (2) more interns for Summer 2019! Interns act as classroom aides to over thirty working artists during the course of the summer. They are also responsible for basic camp functions such as assistance with class setups, class coordination, and helping to evaluate the effectiveness of classes offered. Interns are trained and directly supervised by the camp coordinator. Campers range from ages 5 to 11, and art projects are done in a variety of fine art media. Interns will have the opportunity to create and teach their own lesson towards the end of the summer. Camp begins June 16 and ends August 16, 2019. Hours are 8:30 am–4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Interns receive a stipend on a rolling basis. College credit is available. A background in art is recommended. M S Rezny Studio/Gallery in Lexington, KY announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition, July 16 – August 31, 2019. $500 1st Prize Award; Three $100 Honorable Mention Awards, Purchase Awards and People’s Choice Award. Juror: Becky Alley, artist, curator, and educator; Bolivar Gallery Director at the University of KY. This year’s juried competition has no intended theme for the work; it just needs to fit the criteria of being “small art”, no works over 12 inches in any direction including frame. This is an open call to artists in the USA for works in any medium including but not limited to painting, sculpture, ceramics, collage, mixed media, photography, fiber, printmaking, glass. $25 for 1-3 pieces; $30 for 4 pieces; $35 for 5 pieces. Deadline: June 18. Innovate Grant is now accepting submissions for Spring 2019. Innovate Grant awards (2) $550.00 grants each quarter, to one Visual Artist and one Photographer. In addition to receiving a grant award, winners will be featured and recognized on our website and join a growing community of vibrant and talented artists. Innovate Grant is a new initiative that supports artists and photographers through quarterly grants. We’ve simplified the grant process, so that artists and photographers can focus on making their innovative work. The work should speak for itself and our application reflects that. Frame & Frequency is an ongoing International Video Art Screening Series presented by VisArts that highlights artists whose new media, experimental film, and video works explore contemporary visual culture, and presents an intimate panorama of the variety and breadth of video art in artistic practice today. Ethical Metalsmith Students (EM Students) is examining what it means to be an artist in the 21st century by curating the most innovative jewelry and metalsmithing work made within the past 2 years. Applicants will be considered for the Annual Emerging Artist Award. We understand a completely sustainable practice is an ever-evolving goal. However, the first step is becoming aware of the ways our work impacts environmental and human health. It adds an important layer to the creative decision making of artists. Through the lens of sustainability EM Students challenges you to investigate your studio, processes, methods, and personal goals. The Cincinnati based non-profit arts organization and gallery, Manifest, invites visual artists and designers to submit works that in some way represent the uncovered human form for consideration in Manifest’s eleventh annual Nude, an international competitive exhibit, August 16 – September 13, 2019. Through all the permutations art has experienced across history, work of the body persists. We use the human nude to master skill, understand ourselves, and push social and psychological buttons for the sake of expression (sensual, delicate, political, aggressive, and so on). Artists are invited to submit works in any media, of any style or genre (abstract, conceptual, realistic, etc.), and of any size. $40 fee. More info., visit the Manifest Gallery website.
Deadline: June 10. Solo Series offers artists the opportunity to show a body of work in an individual gallery. Each season, AAC’s exhibition program features national and regional artists in our gallery spaces, as well as related programs such as lectures, public forums, and workshops designed to involve audiences in the experience. Applicants will also be considered for an exhibition in our Community Arts Gallery, which highlights artists whose work aims to create conversation and engagement around local cultural and historical concerns. Exhibitions taking place in the fall, winter, and spring of 2019-2020 will be awarded to 9-12 artists. SUBMISSION FEE: $40. For more information, contact Abington Art Center.
Deadline: Extended to June 15. National call for exhibit at Washington Printmakers Gallery in Georgetown. Grand Prize: 2020 Solo Exhibition. Other prizes: $500 cash prize and art materials gift certificates. Juror: JD Talasek. Hand-pulled prints, screen prints, digital prints, photographs, and three-dimensional work (including artist books) with print components completed within the past two years. Image may be no larger than 100 square inches, with framed size of 256 square inches or less. 3D works are limited to 250 cubic inches. Open to artists 18 years and older.

Deadline: June 17. The debate over who is the better band — The Beatles or The Rolling Stones — has reigned for decades, but both bands have influenced artists equally. Now is your chance to pick a side (or show them both some love) and pay homage to your favorite band. The work in this exhibition will contain art inspired by a song of either the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. The exhibit will be both a virtual exhibition with submissions exhibited at www.emergegalleryny.com with a selection of work displayed at our physical space. One side of the gallery will exhibit work inspired by the Beatles and the other side will exhibit work inspired by the Rolling Stones. They will meet in the middle. This exhibition will include art of various styles and mediums — works on paper, fiber, paintings, photography, small sculpture are all acceptable. Artists in the Hudson Valley are especially encouraged to submit work. Work will also be exhibited and available for purchase on the Emerge Gallery website. Deadline: June 28. The Academy Center of the Arts in Lynchburg, Virginia announces a call to artists for a juried photography exhibition, September 6-28, 2019. Over $3000 in Cash Awards. Juror: Michael Mergen. Open to U.S. residents, 18 years or older. Photographs must be original photographs or photographically derived work, and not done under supervision. All work submitted must be suitably prepared for installation. The curator reserves the right to deny entry if any work is deemed not suitable for display or too difficult to install. Deadline: June 30. The Sunny Art Prize is an international art competition hosted by Sunny Art Centre, London. This fine art award is a global platform, giving an opportunity to emerging and established artists to showcase their talents to a wider audience. We aim to display artistic and cultural diversity to the international art scenes of London, Beijing, Guangzhou and Macau. Sunny Art Award will promote an exchange in creativity between Western and Eastern cultures. We are looking for a variety of submissions which can range from two-dimensional works such as paintings, drawings and photographs, to three-dimensional sculptures, and ceramics. Deadline: June 30. Strange Figurations is an international, thematic group exhibition curated and hosted by the Limner Gallery. The exhibition is open to all interpretations of the concept, Strange Figurations, which would include surreal, visionary and generally all out of the ordinary figurative art. The show is open to all media, techniques and styles from realist to expressionistic. 72″ maximum dimension. The exhibition will be held at the Limner Gallery, September 5 – 28, 2019. Times Square Arts invites you to submit original moving-image artwork to Midnight Moment, the world’s largest, longest-running digital art exhibition synchronized on electronic billboards and Newspaper Kiosks throughout Times Square nightly from 11:57pm to midnight. McLean Project for the Arts (MPA) seeks work for MPAartfest 2019, a one-day juried fine art and craft show and sale featuring the work of more than 35 local and regional visual artists. This 13th annual event will be held October 6, 2019 at McLean Central Park in McLean, Virginia (approximately 10 miles from Washington, D.C.). Deadline: July 1. The Rosemary Duffy Larson Gallery of Broward College is currently seeking proposals for the 2020-2021 exhibition season. Group exhibitions and curatorial proposals are welcomed, as well as solo exhibition proposals. Please submit the following materials to the email address below: 1) Resume or CV (include artist website address if available). 2) Detailed proposal of the exhibition. 3) Artist statement. 4) Artwork samples, using the following specifications: a) 15-20 digital images (JPEG) – 72 dpi, 1024 x 768 pixel maximum. b) Up to 5 minutes of time-based work with a description of no more than one page in digital format contextualizing the work. 5) Image list (including title, medium, dimensions or duration, and date). 6) Indicate if you are interested in being included in a group exhibition if you are not chosen for a solo exhibition. The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Arts Center has a number of spaces available for mounting exhibitions that support the academic mission of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. This open call is for our King Street Gallery, the largest exhibition space in the Cafritz Arts Center. This light filled, 1050 square foot gallery is in the main atrium of the building. Its prominent location, open design, and extremely high ceilings (30 feet+) make it a great venue for major exhibitions. While much of this gallery space is visible from the main lobby of the building, and through the windows that front onto the street, it does maintain gallery hours and is locked after hours. The gallery hours are Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.– 4 p.m. Exhibitions are generally scheduled a year in advance to complement the academic calendar. Exhibitions in the King Street Gallery are 4-5 weeks long, and emphasize two person or small group shows. Single artist applications may be paired with a complimentary artist or artists to better utilize the space. Curated proposals are encouraged. The purpose of the Creativity Grant Program is to strengthen the vitality and sustainability of artists and small organizations to maintain a strong and stable arts infrastructure in the State of Maryland. The Creativity Grant also provides opportunities to serve the growing needs of relevant arts projects and collaborations within Maryland communities. Deadline: Rolling. Submit original works of art inspired by, but not necessarily representative of, an academic medicine experience from any perspective: caregiver, researcher, teacher, learner, or patient (for example, learning how to be a physician or scientist, caring for patients, exploring research questions, making a new discovery, being a research participant, teaching, or being cared for in a teaching hospital). The journal welcomes photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, and other visual media. Images may be cropped or resized to fit into the allotted cover space. Artists must also submit a related Cover Art essay as a narrative companion to the artwork, to explain the connection between the work and the “academic medicine experience.” The related narrative should be 250 to 600 words and is subject to editing. Deadline: Rolling. This column is the journal’s longest-running feature. It is published on two facing pages. The left-hand page features an excerpt from literature, a poem, a photograph, etc. Literature excerpts generally run no more than 700 words and may include a very brief introduction as needed. The right-hand page presents an original commentary of about 900 words that explores the relevance of the artwork to the teaching, learning, and/or practice of medicine. Since submissions cannot be fully accepted for publication until Academic Medicine acquires permission to reprint literary excerpts or artworks (which often takes many months), authors should include all relevant information about the piece they are explicating (publisher, museum, dates, etc.) to enable staff editors to find and contact the copyright holder. The Awesome Foundation for the Arts and Sciences is a worldwide network of people devoted to forwarding the interest of “awesomeness in the universe.” Established in 2009, the foundation distributes $1,000 grants on a monthly basis to projects and their creators. The money is pooled from ten or more self-organizing “micro-trustees.” The chapters are autonomous and organized by the trustees around geographic areas or topics of interest. Deadline: rolling. Maryland Art Place (MAP), in partnership with Hotel Indigo is pleased to announce an open ‘Call to Artists’. As an extension of MAP’s annual IMPACT public art partnership projects, MAP is working with Hotel Indigo to offer rotating exhibitions in Hotel indigo’s library and Poets Modern Cocktails and Eats. This opportunity is available to visual artists living or working in Maryland. Maryland Art Place will curate four exhibitions a year based on submissions entered through a rolling basis. This opportunity is great for both established and early career artists who need a boost to their artist portfolio. The 10th edition will once again explore and show current trends and tendencies in Contemporary Art: Peripheral ARTeries cultivates a spirit of openness through a unique collaborative and participatory approach.Each artist may submit a maximum of three works or projects made in any technique: painting, drawing, video art, experimental cinema, fine art photography, experimental media, mixed media, installations, public art, performance.
