With whimsy and wit, charm and charisma, printmaker Veronica Barker-Barzel brings to life creatures from beloved stories and new imaginings. Influenced by fairy tales, folklore, and mythology from around the world, her solo exhibit features magical beings with fins, fangs, fur, and everything in between.
Her exhibit features a variety of curious creatures known as chimeras. Sometimes half animal, half human; sometimes the arrangement of multiple biologies, these peculiar characters are sure to invoke delight and fascination. Viewers will discover a rodent of whisker and fin, the MerRat, and a bird that flaunts both rooster’s comb and mermaid’s tail, the MerChicken, two of the artist’s unique creations.
Barker-Barzel remarked that she hopes her art “fills the mind with wonder.”
