Portrait & Figure in Oil
Marjorie Forgues Summer 2008
This class is designed for intermediate/advanced students as well as beginning painters with figure/portrait drawing experience. Beginners learn the fundamentals including form, composition, anatomy, and materials, while intermediate students hone existing skills and explore more complex challenges with a human subject. Working from a live model, students will learn to build solid form on canvas through accurate tonal and color relationships. Half the time will be spent on portrait and half on the figure. Elegant setups with draperies and still life objects will be used as backgrounds. Principles of good composition will be discussed. Demonstrations by the instructor are included. Model fees are extra. Supply list in Art League Store.
