Biography:
Ava Soriano is a freelance illustrator and comic book creator based in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Her work is inspired by the fusion of Japanese animation and western pop culture, and seeks to express the increasingly globalized voice of youth culture.

With a professional background in graphic design, her art process combines both traditional materials and methods with digital techniques. She works in a number of mediums, primarily illustrating with pen and ink, and painting with acrylic and watercolor. Her privately commissioned work is held in collections across the U.S. and New Zealand.

Ava is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of artists through mentorship. She is an active member of the art community through her volunteer work with the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation and leads workshops that focus on cross-cultural learning opportunities, as well as developing art fundamentals.

She is a graduate of Virginia Tech and is licensed by the Virginia Board of Education with a dual endorsement in Visual Art (PreK-12) and English.
