This class develops students’ painting skills through the self-expression of color and form. Students use color concepts from Post-Impressionism to Action Painting. The motifs of landscape, figure, and still life are examined along with the classic compositional elements of line, balance, and contrast. For novice and experienced painters, students discover the different levels of abstract – from semi-abstract to non-representational. Students respond to color and emotion and document it in class. Knowledge of acrylics or oils is a prerequisite.
This class requires supplies. Most supplies and supply lists may be obtained at The Art League Store in the Torpedo Factory, room 217. The store hours are 11am – 5pm Sunday through Thursday and 10am – 5pm Friday and Saturday. The Art League Store’s phone number is 703-548-8127.
