Artistic Anatomical Drawing

In this figure drawing class, students will learn the importance anatomy for creating accurate depictions of the human form that appear grounded in space. Students  learn to recognize anatomical landmarks on the surface of the body and understand how flesh is built out around those locations. Anatomical structures will be broken down and grouped into basic shapes that can be easily applied to the figure. Students will be taught Robert Beverly Hale’s five eye system of measuring skeletal proportions.  An exploration of the figure in classical and Renaissance art and  contrapposto poses as they relate to anatomy will be covered. Classes  begin with a lecture and drawing demonstration with the majority of time given for students to work from a live model and receive instructor feedback. Model fees are extra.

This class requires supplies.  The supply list as well as supplies can be obtained at the Art League Store, in Room 217, on the second floor of the Torpedo Factory.  They are open daily from 11 am – 5 pm.
