Learn to understand the structure and vitality of a pose. This class explores the essential stages of capturing a dynamic figure and portrait. Understanding these stages help students move with confidence through the drawing process to gain efficiency in their drawing abilities. Emphasis is on careful observation, structure, line quality, volume, composition and finishing techniques. Work from a live model, students learn to balance risk-taking and exploration in drawing the human figure. They learn how to respond and manipulate different mixed media materials to arrive at a dynamic and unique solution. Included are discussions of historical and contemporary works of art and instructor demonstrations. Group and private discussions will be held to receive feedback from the instructor. Model fees are extra.
A list of recommended supplies must be picked up from the School Store located in room 217 of the Torpedo Factory. The store hours are 11am – 5pm, 7 days a week.
