Learn the essential steps to bring a figure drawing to a high level of completion. This course will enable concentrated focus on what captures the life of a pose, along with understanding essential artistic anatomy. Each week, emphasis is placed on careful observation of gesture, proportion, anatomical structure, line quality, and composition. As the drawing progresses, the focus will shift to components of creating a three-dimensional form, which includes rendering light and shadow, subtle tonal gradations, value, and personal mark-making. Model fee is extra.
Covid Policy for Students in this Class
The Art League will no longer require masks in our classrooms, store, gallery, or offices. However, we ask that our students, faculty, and staff use caution and thoughtfulness when they are close to others for prolonged periods. For example, students using shared equipment in the classroom studios are strongly encouraged to wear masks for their safety, and the consideration of those around them, when in tight proximity to others.Masks are also recommended if your home community risk level is high (Alexandria is currently at medium risk), or you’ve been told by a health professional to wear a mask based on your personal risk factors.
The Art League reserves the right to reinstate mandatory masks, and additional covid safety policies should we feel local conditions warrant such action.
