Gain confidence in working with watercolor through understanding brush and paint control to create luminous mixes and subtle nuances. Capture your interests in loose, vibrant, and expressive ways that clearly focus the understanding of what makes watercolor unique. Early in the semester will be landscape with the possibility of a couple plein air sessions, followed by studio work as the weather changes. Students will explore the expressive character of painting with watercolor while learning to observe and interpret the dynamic relationships within the pictorial space. Working with various subjects, students learn to embrace the magical qualities of watercolor. Included are discussions of historical and contemporary examples and instructor demonstrations. The goal is to help students create fresh, vital, and alive works of art. Model Fees are extra depending on schedule.
Supplies are necessary for this class. A supply list will be available for purchase under the class description closer to the start of the class. Kits are available for pick up or shipping for an additional fee to cover the cost of shipping. Call the store for more information: (703)548-8127
Additionally, as a service to our students, most supply lists are kept on hand in the Art League Supply Store. They are open 7 days a week for your convenience. Due to our large enrollment, we are unable to mail, fax, or read supply lists over the phone.
