Handbuilding Ceramics

Instructor: Ara Koh

**This class is now full.**

This handbuilding class is a project-based exploration that merges traditional handbuilding skills with the student’s visual language. Students create based on their clay proficiency and artistic preference. Students are encouraged to bring original ideas and makeshift tools to create with. The instructor helps students bring their visions to life by working with them one-on-one as needed, and may provide prompts for new projects. Students acquire technical skills, create larger and more complex pieces, and enhance project design skills. Previous ceramic experience is not required.

The Art League Ceramics program boasts large, bright and well equipped studios. We provide open studio time for students to practice and expand their skillset outside of class.

The Ceramics program glaze fires at cone six, both electric oxidation as well as gas reduction. Specialty firings such as Raku are offered in weekend workshop form as well as occasional technique focused classes.
