Intro to Shodo For Sumi-e Painters (Online)

Instructor: Mark Malecki

“Shodo” is the ancient art of calligraphy developed in China. From this, Japanese calligraphers devised a new system called “hiragana.” Learn how to write characters and their stroke order and meanings. Sumi-e painters may explore the addition calligraphy to their work. Non-painters and beginners wanted to study shodo or hiragana are welcome. Knowledge of Chinese or Japanese language is optional. This class requires supplies.
