A breadth of techniques are explored from the potters’ wheel to handbuilding fundamentals. The vocabulary of individual expression is reinforced and students may freely choose to make pieces on the wheel, handbuild, combine techniques or take a sculptural approach to their work. Instructors can teach all methods of construction and often specialize in particular techniques.
In general we encourage all levels of skill to freely attend any of these courses, they accommodate beginners as well as those with advanced skill. Tuition includes 25lbs of clay, studio glazes and all firing of the artwork. Tool kits are available for approximately $20.(suggested for beginning students). More clay is also available for purchase as the need arises.
The Art League Ceramics program boasts large, bright and well equipped studios. We provide open studio time for students to practice and expand their skill set outside of class.
The Ceramics program glaze fires at cone six, both electric oxidation as well as gas reduction. Specialty firings such as Raku are offered in weekend workshop form as well as occasional technique focused classes.
