Margaret McCann grew up in Cleveland Ohio, one of ten children, and lived in Rome for eight years. She has an MFA from Yale School of Art, a BFA from Washington U. in St. Louis, and also studied at the NY Studio School. McCann has been awarded Fulbright, Ingram-Merrill, Blanche E. Colman, and NH State Council grants, and artist residencies at Ragdale, Millay, American Academy in Rome, and Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris. Her solo exhibitions include at Antonia Jannone Disegni di Architettura in Milan, The Painting Center in NYC, and Artemesia Gallery in Chicago. McCann's work has been reviewed in La Repubblica, Corriere della Sera, the Los Angeles Times, the Huffington Post and the NY Observer. 

McCann has taught painting, drawing, sculpture and art history at the New York Academy of Art, UVA, Semester at Sea, Pratt Institute, Syracuse U., Boston U., the Art Students League, Stockton and Montclair in NJ, U. of New Hampshire - and in Italy at RISD, Trinity and Saint Marys colleges, U. of Loyola-Chicago, John Cabot U., and the International School in Umbria. Before serving as project manager/editor of the Skira/Rizzoli book "The Figure," McCann published art reviews for Art New England and The Portsmouth Herald, poetry, and political humor for wirenh.com.

 

Petite December

Exhibit dates: December 4, 2018 - January 6, 2019
Opening Reception: Thursday, December 13, 6:30–8:30 pm

Petite December is an exhibit looking for miniature works available for immediate purchase during the holiday season. No theme is required for works submitted. Normal gallery framing restrictions will be lifted, but the works may be no larger than 8”x5” or 40 square inches. Artists are allowed to enter up to 3 works, and 2 works can be accepted, if any. Artists are free to enter any current work made within the past 3 years. Petite December is a special exhibit; therefore all exhibiting artists must pay a flat $10.00 entry fee.

Restrictions:

• Maximum size for 2D works: 8 inches x 5 inches or 40 square inches.

• Maximum size for 3D works: 5”x 8”x 3” or 120 cubic inches.

-       Works larger than the aforementioned sizes will not be accepted.

-       Framed or unframed work is acceptable.

-       If works are framed, the framed size must fit within the size restriction.

• Artist must be a current exhibiting member of The Art League Gallery

• If the work weighs over 50lbs, the artist must install

• For a flat $10.00 special exhibit entry fee, artists can submit up to 3 works. Up to 2 works can be accepted, if any.

• 40% commission for all art forms with the exception of jewelry forms using precious metals and gemstones (20% commission).

  • Monday–Saturday, 10:00 am–6:00 pm
  • Thursday, 10:00 am–9:00 pm
  • Sunday, 12:00 noon–6:00 pm
