Beginners learn basic stone-setting techniques for pearls, cabochons, and faceted stones. Students are directed step-by-step through three or more projects. Some prior experience with metal-working is encouraged. Intermediate students work to perfect basic setting skills and learn new techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring personal setting projects. The Art League Jewelry and Metals program covers various aspects of designing and creating art jewelry and small metal objects. Each class is suited for beginners, unless noted. The classroom is fully equipped with an extensive assortment of tools and machines. Personal tools and supplies are discussed during the first class. A $20 lab fee is payable at the first class. Basic jewelry tool kits may be rented for home use for the duration of any jewelry class. |
