Join abstract painter and instructor Bryan Jernigan for the online-only class, Abstract Painting. In the class, you will explore the basics of painting – reviewing the importance of design (composition), value and color and employ exercises to develop your abstract work – both from realistic subject matter (things we can see) and thoughts and feelings (things we can’t see). In addition to the basics, the class will cover various painting techniques, mark-making options and getting through the dreaded “middle stages” of a painting. Jernigan covers a topic at the beginning of class, offers demonstrations and then challenges students with an exercise that covers the topic. Then, the rest of class is open painting where students work on their own pieces and Jernigan offers assistance and suggestions to help may your best work.
