Ceramics: Raku and Alternative Firing Techniques

Instructor: David Flohr
Ceramics by David Flohr
Ceramics by David Flohr

Explore the art and craft of Raku and other low fire ceramic techniques. This is a studio class where students focus on both wheel thrown and hand built forms, surface decoration, glazing along with “live fire” to complete their pieces. Other low firing techniques will be covered for those students interested in various forms of experimentation. All students are expected to participate as a team in all aspects of the actual Raku firings. Tuition  includes 1 bag of clay, glaze and firing.  Please read our Pandemic & Health Crisis Policy and S.A.F.E.R Playbook linked below.

Due to social distancing requirements, only students with previous ceramics experience can be accommodated. Mask use is required at all times. Although students will need to check in at our Fairfax entrance, outside doors to the ceramics studios will be opened at intervals to create a reasonable fresh air exchange.
