Expressive Watercolor: Elements of Nature LIVE

Experience the thrill of Plein-air painting that has inspired centuries of artists, offered again this Spring 2021 due to popular demand. This class be held at various locations around the Washington DC area. A virtual experience will be available on inclement days via Zoom. Explore the expressive nature of watercolor to create paintings that are fresh, vital, and alive. Working in a variety of Plein- air sights, students learn to embrace watercolor’s magical qualities. The lessons explore the essentials of a scene, to create vibrant and expressive paintings with confidence. Students will learn to interpret the dynamic relationships within the pictorial space while honing brush and paint control to create luminous mixes and subtle nuances. It is not the highest degree of technical skills that are needed to create the most beautiful work of art of understanding of how and why artwork can captivate the viewer. Weekly instructors demonstrations, extensive class notes via a class website, and private/group critiques are included in the class.
