Digital Illustration

Instructor: Stephen Procopio

Digital illustration is the dominant force in today’s print and web publications. This course focuses on how to execute dramatic imagery through digital means. Geared toward beginners (but not limited to it) We will spend much of class learning the in’s and out’s of Adobe Photoshop, Procreate and Adobe Fresco. Once we have a grounded foundation in how to use these applications, we will work to further our knowledge and understanding of illustration and how to communicate with images! In the early classes, students will be given a one word prompt to use a jumping off point to make a dynamic image. As we progress in our comfort with the tool and applications, students will be encouraged to stretch themselves by making posters, book covers and editorial illustrations.

The requirements for this class are some kind of digital tablet that uses a stylus — ipad (with apple pencil), surface tablet, wacom tablet with a pc/ mac — we will discuss in the first class different ways to draw digitally so if you would like to wait before purchasing new tech, that is ok. This class will be presented using the digital Zoom platform.

All students will also require a sketchbook and pen/pencil.

Join us for a wonderful time of learning and growing in the illustration and digital world!
