Easter Lilies 2020
by Donna Cramer

March 25: Feast of the Annunciation

Come Angel Gabriel.
Do not bring your horn.
Let this not be Judgement Day.

Wear silken robes of White and Blue,
With faint rustle of wing
Bestow your sacred Lily
On Annunciation Day.

May we heed your message thru
what science we can ken:
The scourge of COVID is coming.

Gabriel can they hear you
Over the political din?

Trump trumpets:
We could
“have the country opened
(up and raring to go)
by Easter” time.

Easter Sunday April 12:

I watch your Easter Lily as it ripens
On my shelf.
One pregnant bloom,
One flowered head,
A third one’s met it’s doom.

Do not blow your horn Gabriel.
Let this not be judgement day.
