This workshop builds on basic and intermediate pouring techniques using specialty paints such as “liquid mirror,” “black mirror,” varnishes, color shift and enamel paints as as well as the use of pours in mixed media. The proper use of agents is demonstrated on both small and large canvases. The instructor introduces students to his own unique technique of creating two canvases that are “mirror” images of each other from a single pour. Techniques for rescuing undesirable pours are demonstrated. Guidelines for transitioning to become a professional artist are discussed including setting prices, marketing, securing commissioned pieces, obtaining insurance, joining professional artist associations, entering art exhibits, and the application process for securing a studio at the famed Torpedo Factory Art Center. A $40 supply fee is associated with this workshop.
