*This workshop runs over two weekends, on Saturday and Sunday December 9 & 10, and Saturday and Sunday December 16 & 17. The tuition accounts for all 4 sessions.
This workshop is an introduction to the concepts and techniques of sculpting the human form in clay in an efficient and expressive manner. Participants develop the basic skills of clay modeling and figure assemblage over two consecutive weekends, working on a single pose from beginning to end. Students work from a live model in order to perfect understanding of proportion, symmetry, and form.
Through study of the structure of the human body, this workshop enables participants to capture the essence of the human figure and provide the confidence to express themselves within the figurative tradition. Students develop the skills of seeing, perceiving and reproducing the human form in all its complexities. This class is great not only for sculptors, but also for those experienced in drawing, painting and 3D animation. Beginning sculptors are very welcome as are more experienced sculptors who want to have a deeper understanding of figurative art: the instructor provides individual attention within the context of a supportive class environment. Model fees are extra.
