Watercolor is ideally suited for creating moody, atmospheric paintings. Wet-into-wet washes provide the transparency and soft-edges characteristic of foggy, hazy, misty and rainy scenes. The presence of these gauzy atmospheric elements also suppresses color and value contrast. Hence, this is a good time to consider using a limited palette: one, two, or (at most) three colors. In addition, one can use opaque white paint, suitably weakened with water to aid in achieving the essence of the atmospherically conditioned scene. This course is held on Zoom.
