Students will paint a portrait from observation of a live model in traditional oil colors. They will focus on achieving naturalistic skin tones, three-dimensional lighting effects, and expressive use of color. There will be two portrait demonstrations by the instructor for three hours each morning. Students may experience art talks and individualized critiques that will focus on materials, techniques, process, and artistic vision. The class will also cover the palette with brush/knife color mixing.
