Portrait Interpretations

Instructor: Tania Karpowitz
Oil Painting Tania Karpowitz
Oil Painting by Tania Karpowitz

Looking at art history, this workshop examines how the portrait has been reinterpreted over time. Students experiment with materials, composition, and thinking about their own view of what makes a portrait. As students uncover their idea, they focus on developing their image. Participants are encouraged to start thinking about these ideas before class and to bring some examples of portrait images by other artists. Students must bring drawing materials. Color or painting media are welcome. Model fees extra.
