Sketching Your Vision

Where to begin? Art journals/sketchbooks are worthwhile, important, creative and self-revelatory. There is no pressure to make them “perfect.” Students learn to silence their inner critic and think of their sketchbooks as a way to explore and experiment with technique, media, and subject matter. This workshop is open to students with any level of artistic experience who are looking to make a companion out of their sketchbook. Students learn to create from life, still life, and photographs. Students learn a variety of artistic media and techniques including transfers, printmaking collage, painting and drawing. Their sketchbooks will become a place to record experiences, to collect memorabilia, and experiment with a number of techniques that will lead to developing an artistic style. Supplies are extra and a $15 material fee paid to the instructor on the first day of the workshop.
