This in-studio workshop is for students who have little or no experience with East Asian brush painting and wish for a brief but intensive immersion class or for students who wish to brush up on their fundamental skills. Students are taught the use of the basic materials and instruction focuses on foundational subject matter including bamboo, plum, orchid, and chrysanthemum. Students learn effective brush loading and handling techniques and different ways to apply ink and colors to the paper with structured exercises. Students observe the instructor’s demonstrations and are given models from which to emulate.
