This workshop looks at two distinctive portrait methods from 17th century Holland; Hals with his direct impressionistic approach resulting in a fresh painterly glow and Rembrandt who applied paint with a turbulent drama creating an extraordinarily lively surface. The class features the examination and use of classic paints and mediums commonly used during the Baroque period. Demonstrations are given showing the special characteristics of these materials.
