At the opening reception for Let There Be Light on January 8, 2009, 17 artists were awarded Honorable Mentions for their works. They are:

  • Edward Reed for Contemplation
  • Ruth Sievers for Brave American
  • Marilyn Moody Spindler for Maine Light
  • Gale Wallar for Paris Doorway
  • Meg Walsh for On the Rocks
  • Diane Weiner for Coming and Going
  • Phyllis Whiton for Happy Couple

Christine Lashley received The Ruth Greges Award for My Onions. Juror Cynthia Connolly “gravitated toward this piece,” feeling that it “really exemplifies light”. She was impressed with the number of artists who were able to depict complex, difficult moments to capture.

Let There Be Light will be on view January 7 through February 2, 2009 at The Art League Gallery, along with Yoshimi Matsukata’s solo show, A Hosta Story.
