Volunteer with The Art League

Volunteering is one of the easiest ways to become involved in the arts, and The Art League provides a fun, relaxing, and welcoming place to do so! Since The Art League’s inception, volunteering has been a mainstay of the organization, and we welcome you to browse the volunteer and internship opportunities below and join The Art League community.

Administrative

Volunteers in The Art League’s administrative offices assist with mailings, computer work, special projects, and more. Board service is another opportunity through which you can contribute significantly to The Art League’s success.

To get involved, contact us at 703-549-5450 or  [email protected].

Development

The Development Office seeks volunteers on a regular basis to assist with special events, mailings, outreach activities, and more.

You can help The Art League’s fundraising efforts by assisting at events, joining the Development Committee, or volunteering at one of our outreach activities. If you have experience or expertise in fundraising and development, we would love to have your help! See below for more about one of our outreach programs.

To get involved, contact us at [email protected] or 703-519-1741.

Outreach

Each summer, we recruit a team of adult, women volunteers to serve as mentors in the SOHO (A Space of Her Own) outreach program serving at-risk, low-income 5th-grade girls from Alexandria. Volunteer mentors are each paired with a participating girl, and together they meet weekly to participate in team building activities, learn life skills lessons, eat a healthy dinner, and participate in an art lesson taught by a professional Art League artist. At the end of the year, mentors work together to renovate their girls’ bedrooms using the artworks created and giving each girl a “space of her own.”

Volunteers must make a one-year commitment to attend SOHO sessions one evening every week from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Art League’s Madison Annex

and occasional weekends during the year.

To get involved, please contact us at:
[email protected] or 703-519-1741 x33.

SOHO is a joint program of The Art League and the Alexandria Court Service Unit.

Governance

The Art League truly benefits from the service of people with varying experience and expertise, including – but not limited to — land use and urban development, finance, arts education, fundraising/development, community relations, and nonprofit organization governance. The Art League is always grateful to have people willing to devote some time and effort to serve on our committees, as special advisors to the Board, or the Board of Directors.

If you would be interested in supporting the League in this way, please read our Governance Service Agreement for more details and next steps.
