Hill Center Galleries Regional Juried Art Exhibition (DC)

Deadline: December 1. Hill Center Galleries announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition, January 10March 3, 2019 at Hill Center at the Old Naval Hospital in Washington, DC. Awards: $1000, $750, $500. Juror: Caitlin Berry, Fine Arts Dealer and Associate Director at Hemphill Fine Arts in Washington, DC. Open only to District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia artists. Original hanging work, in any medium, created since January 1, 2016, will be considered. Monmouth Museum 40th Annual Juried Art Exhibition (NJ)

Deadline: December 3. The Monmouth Museum in Lincroft, NJ seeks entries for a juried art exhibition, to be held January 12March 10, 2019. 4 monetary Jurors’ Awards of $250 each and 5 Honorable Mentions with no monetary award. All visual arts media applications will be considered (drawing, print, painting, mixed media work, photography, sculpture, video, etc.) Open to all artists worldwide age 17 and over. $20 per entry/artwork. Wheaton Biennial: Brush Coat Cover (MA)

Deadline: December 3.  About the Exhibition Brush Coat Cover is the 4th biennial held at the Beard and Weil Galleries at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts. This year Wheaton is inviting artists whose work challenges, explores, and celebrates the definition and history of painting as an artistic medium. Wheaton is seeking a diverse range of experimental work, collectively evoking an open-ended conversation on painting. For addition information, visit the Wheaton College website.

Call for Content: Appalachian Futures (WV)

Deadline: January 31. WVU Libraries is developing an interdisciplinary exhibit for 2019-20 themed around Appalachian Futures. Content is sought from scholars, artists and practitioners from a range of fields to integrate into a curated exhibition that will be interpreted, designed, and installed next spring/summer, and potentially travel throughout the state. This collaborative, multidisciplinary exhibit and programming will address the dominant contemporary narratives about Appalachia in a new way— how the people of Appalachia have worked and will work to rewrite their own narrative and transcend limiting definitions of what it means to be Appalachian.  The exhibit will use scholarship and creations to tell stories about the broader ideas and relationships amongst the various Appalachian identities, past present and into the future. Call for Exhibition Proposals (PA)

Deadline: February 28. The Olin Art Gallery on the campus of Washington & Jefferson College, Washington, PA, is now accepting exhibition proposals in any medium for the 2019-20 academic year. Proposals may include solo or group exhibitions. Submissions must include: 10-20 digital images (jpg-format), contact information, artist statements for all participating artists, an image list (including title, media, size, and date completed for each work), and a resume or CV. Proposals will be accepted via email only (email should be no larger than 10m – ZIP file, Mac compatible, preferred). There is NO entry fee. The application must be received by February 28, 2019. Torpedo Factory Target Gallery—2019 Solo Exhibition (VA)

Deadline: November 25. Target Gallery invites artists to apply for an open call for proposals for a solo exhibition for the summer of 2019. The individual or group associated with the chosen proposal will receive an exhibition at Target Gallery from June 14 through August 4, 2019. Proposals must be new bodies of work or works that have not been previously shown in the region. Individual works that have been previously shown can be entered if they are a part of new bodies of work and/or a new concept. The artist(s) will receive a $3000 stipend. Signs of the Times (VA)

Deadline: November 28. Arlington Artists Alliance announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition, January 5—31, 2019 at Gallery Clarendon in Arlington, Virginia. Up to $500 in awards. Juror: (Art League Instructor) Beverly Ryan. Artists working in all media are called to submit works that interpret and express signs of the times – real or imagined, literal or figurative, positive or negative; art that addresses, questions, protests, or celebrates our changing world. Call for Submissions – Frame & Frequency IV Vol. 2 (MD)

Deadline: November 28. Frame & Frequency is an ongoing International Video and Sound Art Exchange program presented concurrently at VisArts In(Site) Project Gallery in Rockville, MD and at PLECTO Galeria in Medellín, Colombia, opening December 7, 2018. Video, sound art (up to 8 channels), film, and new media work will be accepted: experimental, documentary, animation, narrative, non-narrative, multimedia, virtual reality, augmented reality, net art, interactive media, etc. All foreign language moving image artworks must have English subtitles. Create! Magazine: Open call for Winter 2019 International Print Issue

Deadline: November 30. Guest curated by Margaret Winslow, Curator of Contemporary Art, Delaware Art. Each beautifully crafted edition of Create! Magazine features inspiring interviews, perspectives, and advice from the top creative professionals. Create! Magazine has been featured by The Jealous Curator, Art Miami Fairs, Apartment Therapy and more. Artists 18 and older are welcome to apply with works in any medium: painting, sculpture, digital, printmaking, fiber, photography, mixed media, installation and more. Artists from all countries are welcome to submit. Artists selected by the guest juror will receive a 2-page spread including a brief bio, website, and 2 images in print and digital formats. Artist Call: Mobile Art Gallery (DC)

Deadline: December 1. CulturalDC is seeking artists of all kinds to submit new and engaging concepts for our Mobile Art Gallery. After an extremely successful inaugural year of delivering art directly to people’s doorsteps, we are excited to continue building on the momentum of DC’s first moveable artspace. CulturalDC provides a platform for artists to obtain exposure with our network of arts organizations, audiences, and real estate developers. Artists will receive a stipend. ITSLIQUID International Contest – 6th Edition (International)

ITSLIQUID Contest is developed in partnership with a professional jury, composed by renowned curators, gallerists, architects, fashion designers, high level experts and important professionals of the Art, Architecture, Design and Fashion Worlds. Women Artists Call — Pen and Brush Solo Exhibit (NY)

Deadline: December 31. Long-established contemporary art gallery and nonprofit seeking talented professional female artists for various opportunities. These opportunities include, but are in no way limited to: a solo exhibition in our ground floor space on 22nd street, group exhibition opportunities, inclusion in exhibition catalogues written by art historians and curators, and opportunities to expose work to influential curators. All work submitted must be contemporary art, submitted work must be complete, to be considered work must meet standards of quality, every work in a submission must be for sale. Call for Solo Exhibition Proposals (PA)

Deadline: December 31. Arts & Education at the Hoyt is currently seeking artists to fill its 2020 – 2021 Exhibition Schedule. Solo, duo, collectives and curatorial proposals are welcome. Artists living in the Mid-Atlantic region (PA, OH, NY, NJ, MD, VA, W.VA, DE and Washington DC) are invited to apply. Please submit a proposal that includes; exhibition description, 10-20 jpeg images, image list with titles, media and dimensions, resume or curriculum vitae, and a $25.00 review fee. Fairfax, VA Artists: Apply to the ARTSFAIRFAX Artist Grant (VA)

Deadline: January 9. Artists working in all disciplines and residing in Fairfax County are eligible to apply for these $5000 grants.  This grant and workshop is geared toward experienced artists from all arts disciplines. Workshop participants will become familiar with the application process, grant writing best practices, and ARTSFAIRFAX’s online application system. Downeast National Juried Sculpture Exhibition (NC)

Deadline: January 19. The Downeast National Juried Sculpture Exhibition is located in Pitt County, North Carolina. The Exhibition has two components: a month long indoor exhibition and a year long outdoor exhibition. The Downeast Outdoor Sculpture exhibition is a joint exhibition among Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge, ECU Students Activities Board, City of Greenville, Town of Winterville, Town of Farmville, Wahl-Coates School of the Arts, and the Greenville Museum of Art. Theodore Carter: Night of 1,000 Fridas (DC)

Deadline: January 25. D.C. artists participating in the global Night of 1,000 Fridas project are eligible for cash rewards of up to $250. To qualify, artists must create original artworks inspired by Frida Kahlo and place them in public view in Washington, D.C. on January 25, 2019. Works of art must include the “1KFridas” hashtag. This is a worldwide event, but only artwork displayed in D.C. is eligible for the cash prize. Entries will be judged by a panel formed by the project’s organizer, Theodore Carter, and judged based on impact on the public, the number of Fridas submitted, originality of the concept, and overall execution. 1st Prize: $250, 2nd Prize: $200, 3rd Prize: $150. 76th Regional Exhibition Call for Entries (NY)

Deadline: February 6. The Arnot Art Museum announces a call for artists for their 76th Regional Exhibition. Artists must be 18 or older and live in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, or Vermont. Work over five years old or shown before in any Arnot Art Museum exhibition is not eligible. There is a maximum of two entries per artist. The Arnot Art Museum is a landmark in downtown Elmira, housed in the 1833 neo-classical mansion of John Arnot, Sr. His son, Matthias H. Arnot, added a Picture Gallery in the 1880’s. Art Speaks Juried Exhibition: Call for Artists (VA)

Deadline: March 1. Art Speaks presents the Seventh Annual Juried Exhibition, to be eligible for prizes totaling $5,000 (including $1,500 for Best in Show) artists must be a resident of Virginia, and 18+ years. Artists may submit up to three entries. Entry fees: $25 before February 1,  $35 after February 1, $20 for students. Spark Box Studio Dawson Residency Award and Bursary (Canada)

Deadline: March 1, 2019. This award is open to residents of North America. Spark Box Studio is accepting applications from emerging, mid-career, and established artists. One artist will receive a month-long residency at our studio in Prince Edward County, plus the $1,000 Dawson bursary. The selected applicant will be granted a semi-private studio space and be given access to the Spark Box Studio equipment and resources. As well, the winner will be provided with living accommodations for their month-long stay. We support a range of disciplines including; drawers, illustrators, painters, writers, printmakers, film makers, performance artists, multidisciplinary artists, curators, book makers, musicians and photographers (digital)

Taubman Museum of Art – Exhibitors wanted for 2019 Sidewalk Show Sale (VA)

Deadline: March 8, 2019. This annual benefit infuses downtown Roanoke with energy, excitement, and creativity, attracting 10,000 shoppers over the weekend! Don’t miss your opportunity to exhibit in this premier destination for fine art shopping, scheduled for June 1-2, 2018. Sunny Art Center International Art Prize (UK)

Deadline: June 30, 2019. The Sunny Art Prize is an international art competition hosted by Sunny Art Centre, London. This fine art award is a global platform, giving an opportunity to emerging and established artists to showcase their talents to a wider audience. We aim to display artistic and cultural diversity to the international art scenes of London, Beijing, Guangzhou and Macau. Sunny Art Award will promote an exchange in creativity between Western and Eastern cultures. We are looking for a variety of submissions which can range from two-dimensional works such as paintings, drawings and photographs, to three-dimensional sculptures, and ceramics. Artist/Writers: Cover Art for Academic Medicine

Deadline: Rolling. Submit original works of art inspired by, but not necessarily representative of, an academic medicine experience from any perspective: caregiver, researcher, teacher, learner, or patient (for example, learning how to be a physician or scientist, caring for patients, exploring research questions, making a new discovery, being a research participant, teaching, or being cared for in a teaching hospital). The journal welcomes photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, and other visual media. Images may be cropped or resized to fit into the allotted cover space. Artists must also submit a related Cover Art essay as a narrative companion to the artwork, to explain the connection between the work and the “academic medicine experience.” The related narrative should be 250 to 600 words and is subject to editing. Artist/Writers: Medicine and the Arts (MATA) Opportunity

Deadline: Rolling. This column is the journal’s longest-running feature. It is published on two facing pages. The left-hand page features an excerpt from literature, a poem, a photograph, etc. Literature excerpts generally run no more than 700 words and may include a very brief introduction as needed. The right-hand page presents an original commentary of about 900 words that explores the relevance of the artwork to the teaching, learning, and/or practice of medicine. Since submissions cannot be fully accepted for publication until Academic Medicine acquires permission to reprint literary excerpts or artworks (which often takes many months), authors should include all relevant information about the piece they are explicating (publisher, museum, dates, etc.) to enable staff editors to find and contact the copyright holder. The Awesome Foundation Accepting Applications for Art Projects

Deadline: Open. The Awesome Foundation for the Arts and Sciences is a worldwide network of people devoted to forwarding the interest of “awesomeness in the universe.” Established in 2009, the foundation distributes $1,000 grants on a monthly basis to projects and their creators. The money is pooled from ten or more self-organizing “micro-trustees.” The chapters are autonomous and organized by the trustees around geographic areas or topics of interest. Call for Artists: Maryland Art Place Seeks Proposals for Rotating Exhibition Partnership with Baltimore’s Hotel Indigo (MD)

Deadline: rolling. Maryland Art Place (MAP), in partnership with Hotel Indigo is pleased to announce an open ‘Call to Artists’. As an extension of MAP’s annual IMPACT public art partnership projects, MAP is working with Hotel Indigo to offer rotating exhibitions in Hotel indigo’s library and Poets Modern Cocktails and Eats. This opportunity is available to visual artists living or working in Maryland. Maryland Art Place will curate four exhibitions a year based on submissions entered through a rolling basis. Peripheral ARTeries – Biennial Contemporary Art Publication

Deadline: Rolling. Peripheral ARTeries is looking for artists to be featured in the new special Biennial Edition of their art publication, that comes to its 10th edition. This opportunity is great for both established and early career artists who need a boost to their artist portfolio. The 10th edition will once again explore and show current trends and tendencies in Contemporary Art: Peripheral ARTeries cultivates a spirit of openness through a unique collaborative and participatory approach.Each artist may submit a maximum of three works or projects made in any technique: painting, drawing, video art, experimental cinema, fine art photography, experimental media, mixed media, installations, public art, performance. Exhibit at Hotel Indigo (VA)

Artists works will displayed in the hotel’s gallery (220 S Union St, Old Town Alexandria) for a six-month period. Two-dimensional, framed works only. Artists will install the work using the hotel’s mounting hardware. Labels will be provided by the hotel. All sales handled by artist, no commission. Deadline: ongoing. Foundry Gallery is seeking a few artists in the greater Washington, DC area.
