Introduction to 4-Shaft Weaving

Harrington

In this introduction to the versatile and more complex four shaft loom, students learn to make and read a weaving pattern, create a warp from the chosen pattern, dress the loom and weave a small project. While many structures are possible on a four shaft loom, the emphasis this session will be on woven lace and its plain weave building blocks. Lessons will emphasize using and reading patterns. Some classes will over lap with the advanced class. A $25. materials fee is payable to the instructor on the first day of class. Students may rent a table loom for $30.

The fiber studio provides workspaces with an assortment of floor looms, table looms, spinning wheels, dyeing facilities, silk steamer and an extensive fiber library. Open studio is available to Art League members and students for a nominal fee. Our floor loom rental fees include open studio time.
