In this workshop, students learn to paint animals and flowers in ink. Using black sumi ink as a base, and later adding more colors. The instructor demonstrates the expressive properties of line and wash techniques, painting techniques and provides individual techniques. The instructor aims to provide a spiritually recharging environment with live, fragrant flowers to paint from and a tv screen with a nature movie featuring birds and wildlife created by Teresa herself. This immersive experience allows artists to focus on the subject’s natural environment that they are studying, aid in their drawing and appreciation.
This class is for those who wish to learn a new drawing practice, as well as for those seeking to sharpen their skills. Drawing in inks takes persistence and practice. The ink’s permanence teaches the student to respect the rhythm of line and it’s speed/pacing, compositional placement, color harmonies, as well as proportion and line weight. This is both a relaxing and challenging class, suitable for all levels.
