Ceramics Workshop This Weekend

Making Pots from Parts
Workshop with Renowned Ceramist Blair Meerfeld

A native of Colorado, ceramist Blair Meerfeld incorporates native clays and materials into his work. His pots are variations or abstractions of shapes – mechanical, human, or landscape. By using salt glazes, he is able to “pull out the secrets of clay and slips, leaving them on the surface for your engagement.”

The weekend will feature throwing, assembling, and discussion and observation of form in functional pottery. Meerfeld will share his thoughts on a number of topics including creating tension and interest through vertical and horizontal line, and his desire to elicit an emotional response to his work.
