Ice Cream Bowls & Hands-On Art at the King Street Art Festival

September is just around the corner, and that means … ice cream bowls!

Come join The Art League at the Alexandria King Street Art Festival, September 7 and 8, for a whole slate of events, including art activities for the whole family. It’s all headlined by our annual Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser — featuring gourmet ice cream and your choice of handmade bowls for only $15.

Also in store that weekend:

Saturday, September 7:

  • 10:00 am–12:00 noon: Kick-Off Art Activity
  • 11:00 am–4:00 pm: Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser
  • 2:00–4:00 pm: Hands-On T-Shirt Printing Activity
  • 12:00 noon–4:00 pm: Get-A-Head at Art Activated

Sunday, September 8:

  • 11:00 am–4:00 pm: Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser (continued)
  • 11:00 am–1:00 pm: Hands-On Art Activities (continued)

Our ceramics artists have been hard at work throwing, trimming, firing, and glazing 1,000 bowls for the event. They’re quite good at it — so to test them, we had them race each other and then do it again, blindfolded. See the results in the video above — and we’ll have bowls, ice cream, and spoons for you at Market Square, September 7 and 8. For full details on the weekend’s events, click here.
