March 2024 Open Exhibit
Diverse artworks by member artists are the feature of Open Exhibits at The Art League. This month, 99 artworks—painting, drawing, photography, fiber art, ceramics, and mixed media—are on view. The March Open Exhibit was juried by artist Juliette Colas, and is on view through April 7.
Lines in Color by Alyse Radenovic
March solo artist Alyse Radenovic employs multifold vertical lines in an array of colors for the 11 works featured in her solo exhibit Lines in Color. Each painting is an elaborate yet streamlined nexus of consonant and dissonant color combinations, creating harmonious statements from the interconnection of disparate hues. Each composition is a rich and unified tapestry, at once dynamic and serene. Lines of Color is on view through April 7.
Artomatic
After a seven-year absence, Artomatic, the peripatetic, DMV art festival is back! Best of all, Art League members and instructors—Pattee Hipschen, Jane Johnson, Dale McGrath, Andrea Cybyk, Peri Turns, Lisa Laohaphan, Audra Meckstroth, Michael Price, Susan O’Neill, and Jeff Tackes—are exhibiting in this sprawling, one-of-a-kind art show. In addition to the art on view, there is a roster of of interactive and immersive events to check out. Artomatic is open Wednesdays–Thursdays, 5–9:30 p.m.; Fridays–Saturdays, 12 noon–12:00 midnight; and Sunday, 12–9 p.m. through April 28 at 2100 M Street NW in Foggy Bottom.
Stained Glass: An Artist’s Demonstration with Jimmy Powers
See Art League stained glass instructor Jimmy Powers in action as he gives an artist demonstration presented by the Accokeek Artis Alliance. It takes place Sunday, April 7, at 1 p.m. at Mattawoman Creek Art Center, Smallwood State Park in Marbury, Maryland. Click here for details and directions.
Capital Art Book Fair
The second edition of East City Art’s Capital Art Book Fair takes place this weekend at Eastern Market’s North Hall. The event is open to the public, free of charge. Thirty-six exhibitors from across the DMV, the US, Asia and Europe will present books as works of art, editions about art or artists, limited run books, prints as well as DIY zines, graphic novels and art magazines. Over 100 fine artists, independent publishers, small presses, illustrators and photographers will be represented. It’s open Saturday, April 6, 11 a.m.–6 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m.—4 p.m., at Eastern Market’s North Hall at 225 7th Street SE, Washington D.C.
