My paintings come from invention rather than from observation, reflecting a solitary childhood influenced by fairy tales, the richly varied experiences of my profession as a textile designer, museum visits, and years perusing art history books and fashion magazines. Each painting is an intimate scene suggesting a broader untold story. Figures—often with a sense of ambiguity in their relationship—are the product of playful collage in realms of painted texture and pattern.
