“I am a visual storyteller, a griot” is how artist Jimmy James Greene describes his art practice. His current work focuses on people’s stories: their emotions are conveyed through subjective colors, while their concerns, conditions, or social constructs are referred to by immersive patterning. His paintings render individuals realistically, then go beyond what they look like to narrate their internal and external vibrations.
