This workshop is an introduction to the concepts and techniques of sculpting the human form in clay in an efficient and expressive manner. Students develop the basic skills of clay modeling and figure assemblage within a two-day period, working on a single pose from beginning to end. They work from a live model in order to perfect understanding of proportion, symmetry, and form. Through study of the structure of the human body, this workshop will enable students to capture the essence of the human figure and provide the confidence to express themselves within the figurative tradition. Participants develop the skills of seeing, perceiving and reproducing the human form in all its complexities. This class is great not only for beginners, but also for those experienced in drawing, painting and 3D animation, as well as for more experienced sculptors who want a deeper understanding of figurative art. The instructor provides individual attention within the context of a supportive class environment. Tuition includes 2 bags of clay. Firing and model fees are extra.
