Tips, Tricks and Principles of Making Space

Nancy Freeman
Making Space

We live in a 3D world, but we paint or draw on a 2D surface. This workshop covers the specific shapes, arrangement of shapes, colors, values, and textures that create the illusion of distance, space, and volume in our minds. We discuss how to make objects look closer or farther away, how to give the illusion of overlapping objects, and how to make roads, paths, rivers, and water appear to stay flat on the ground. We will cover the various perspective options, the role that the horizon line plays, and much more.
