Call for Civil Rights Act of 1964-themed artwork, DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities — D.C.
Deadline: August 14 The Juried Exhibition Grant (JEG) provides support for District-based artists to exhibit their work in a juried, themed visual art exhibition. In addition to the award, it also provides the use of the 200 I Street SE lobby exhibition space. This Request for Applications seeks works for an exhibition that will reflect on the Civil Rights Act of 1964 during its 60th year anniversary in 2024 and how DC artists have been influenced, both explicitly and implicitly, by the social progress and reform of the past 60 years. This landmark legislation aimed to prohibit discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. By exploring this significant milestone, the exhibition seeks to provide insight into the progress, challenges, and ongoing efforts toward achieving equity and social justice. Deadline: September 10 The Washington Sculptors Group is excited to partner with The Kreeger Museum for an exhibition of outdoor work. Artists are invited to submit images of existing sculptures and installations to this call for works that reflect the role of art in our contemporary moment. Call to Artists, VisArts’ biannual F.E.A.S.T. Grant — Rockville, MD
Deadline: August 3 VisArts’ biannual F.E.A.S.T. (Funding Emerging Art with Sustainable Tactics) is a bridge between artists and the community. F.E.A.S.T. uses community-driven financial support to democratically fund projects that use art and creative thinking to impact the community. Funding for the project grant comes from the donations of attendees, who listen to and review a series of project proposals, and converse with the artists and thinkers behind each idea. This year’s F.E.A.S.T. is focused on the concept of REMEDIATION, as a practice and site of remembrance. Deadline: August 7 The Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District and the Bethesda Urban Partnership announce a new public art mural project at the Norfolk Avenue Streetery located on Norfolk Avenue between St. Elmo Avenue and Cordell Avenue in downtown Bethesda, Maryland. Artists who are 18 years of age or older and residents of Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia are eligible, and must have prior experience with the design and installation of large-scale murals. Call for Entries, Embodying Masonic Values-2023, Masonic Library & Museum of Pennsylvania — Philadelphia
Deadline: August 10 For this open art competition, all artwork entries must display a visual interpretation of some aspect of Freemasonry in Pennsylvania, whether it be philosophical, historical, scientific, social, fraternal, charitable, architectural, etc. Selected artwork will be exhibited in the Masonic Temple in Philadelphia. Constructed in 1873, the Masonic Temple has become one of the great “wonders” of the Masonic world. Adorned with some of the finest artifacts of Freemasonry and magnificent lodge rooms based on themes of the ancient architectural world. The Masonic Temple connects us with our past by outwardly displaying our Masonic traditions and values. Deadline: August 18 The VSA Emerging Young Artists Program, a Jean Kennedy Smith Arts and Disability Program, showcases the work of visual artists with disabilities, ages 16-25, who reside in the United States. Fifteen winning artists are selected by a jury. Each winning artist receives a $5,000 award and has one of their submitted pieces selected to travel in a year-long national exhibition. Winning artists are required to attend an all-expenses-paid professional development workshop at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. February 26-29, 2024. We’re particularly keen to recruit new hires for our sculpture, stained glass, and watercolor departments. The Alper Initiative for Washington Art features five exhibitions per year in the newly constructed first floor space in the American University Museum. The Howard County Arts Council gallery program was established to enhance the public’s appreciation of the visual arts, provide a venue to exhibit the work of local, regional, and national artists in a professional space, and provide leadership in the arts by presenting a broad spectrum of arts in all media from both emerging and established artists. The Creativity Grant Program State of Maryland (MD)
Deadline: Rolling. The purpose of the Creativity Grant Program is to strengthen the vitality and sustainability of artists and small organizations to maintain a strong and stable arts infrastructure in the State of Maryland. The Creativity Grant also provides opportunities to serve the growing needs of relevant arts projects and collaborations within Maryland communities. Artist/Writers: Cover Art for Academic Medicine
Deadline: Rolling. Submit original works of art inspired by, but not necessarily representative of, an academic medicine experience from any perspective: caregiver, researcher, teacher, learner, or patient (for example, learning how to be a physician or scientist, caring for patients, exploring research questions, making a new discovery, being a research participant, teaching, or being cared for in a teaching hospital). The journal welcomes photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, and other visual media. Images may be cropped or resized to fit into the allotted cover space. Artists must also submit a related Cover Art essay as a narrative companion to the artwork, to explain the connection between the work and the “academic medicine experience.” The related narrative should be 250 to 600 words and is subject to editing. The Awesome Foundation Accepting Applications for Art Projects
Deadline: Open. The Awesome Foundation for the Arts and Sciences is a worldwide network of people devoted to forwarding the interest of “awesomeness in the universe.” Established in 2009, the foundation distributes $1,000 grants on a monthly basis to projects and their creators. The money is pooled from ten or more self-organizing “micro-trustees.” The chapters are autonomous and organized by the trustees around geographic areas or topics of interest. Peripheral ARTeries – Biennial Contemporary Art Publication

Exhibit at Hotel Indigo (VA)
Artists works will displayed in the hotel’s gallery (220 S Union St, Old Town Alexandria) for a six-month period. Two-dimensional, framed works only. Artists will install the work using the hotel’s mounting hardware. Labels will be provided by the hotel. All sales handled by artist, no commission.
