Deadline: August 9 This work-exchange associate position offers a unique opportunity to engage with Pyramid’s creative community, and work alongside professionals in a sharing/collaborative environment. In exchange for working 12 volunteer hours a month for Pyramid, the Printmaking Associate will have 24-hour access to studios and equipment and receive a 40% discount on most workshops. Deadline: August 12 Artists are invited to submit existing or new sculptures, and site-specific installations that fit the theme. You are welcome to take the theme and explore any metaphors in nature, society, politics, etc. Go wild! But provide a point of reference for your viewer/participant. Call for Civil Rights Act of 1964-themed artwork, DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities — D.C.
Deadline: August 14 The Juried Exhibition Grant (JEG) provides support for District-based artists to exhibit their work in a juried, themed visual art exhibition. In addition to the award, it also provides the use of the 200 I Street SE lobby exhibition space. This Request for Applications seeks works for an exhibition that will reflect on the Civil Rights Act of 1964 during its 60th year anniversary in 2024 and how DC artists have been influenced, both explicitly and implicitly, by the social progress and reform of the past 60 years. This landmark legislation aimed to prohibit discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. By exploring this significant milestone, the exhibition seeks to provide insight into the progress, challenges, and ongoing efforts toward achieving equity and social justice. Director of Public Art and Creative Activation wanted for Golden Triangle BID — D.C.

Call to Artists, Public Art Opportunity, Montpelier Arts Center — Laurel, MD
Deadline: September 4 The Arts and Cultural Heritage Division (ACHD) of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George’s Department of Parks and Recreation invites individual artists and artist teams to submit applications for exterior sculptural artwork to be installed on a temporary basis at the Montpelier Arts Center in Laurel, Maryland. Call for Artists, Still Something Singing, Sculpture Exhibit at Kreeger Museum — D.C.
Deadline: September 10 The Washington Sculptors Group is excited to partner with The Kreeger Museum for an exhibition of outdoor work. Artists are invited to submit images of existing sculptures and installations to this call for works that reflect the role of art in our contemporary moment. Artists may also submit proposals for new site-specific installations. All work must be suitable for being outdoors for a period of several months without the need for maintenance. Deadline: September 23 Hillyer is accepting proposals for solo and group exhibitions that take place between January and December of 2024. Through a competitive selection process, 25 to 30 artists and/or curators will be awarded a one month solo or group exhibition in one of Hillyer’s three gallery spaces. Deadline: November 14 Strathmore welcomes artists to submit original artwork for Strathmore’s 32nd Annual Juried Exhibition: Prism: Connections in Color. Whether in combination or in reduction, this call asks artists to develop art that conveys or examines subject matter or meaning through color theory open to fluorescent, monochromatic, neutral, metallic, and everything in between or beyond. Call to Artists, 2023 Mid-Atlantic Regional Watercolor Exhibition — Gaithersburg, MD

Deadline: August 2 The Artist/Scholar in Residence program supports artists or scholars in the creation of new scholarly and/or artists works that imaginatively study, experiment with, and/or critique the Library’s digital collections, materials, and/or services. Call to Artists, VisArts’ biannual F.E.A.S.T. Grant — Rockville, MD
Deadline: August 3 VisArts’ biannual F.E.A.S.T. (Funding Emerging Art with Sustainable Tactics) is a bridge between artists and the community. F.E.A.S.T. uses community-driven financial support to democratically fund projects that use art and creative thinking to impact the community. Funding for the project grant comes from the donations of attendees, who listen to and review a series of project proposals, and converse with the artists and thinkers behind each idea. This year’s F.E.A.S.T. is focused on the concept of REMEDIATION, as a practice and site of remembrance. Call to Artists, Capital Hill Art Walk — D.C.
Deadline: August 6 Local artists are invited to display their work in their own micro-galleries, at home-studios, on porches or in yards for the Capital Hill Art Walk, Saturday and Sunday, September 9 – 10, 2023 from noon- 5 pm. Most will have work for sale. It is free—no fees or commissions. Call to Artists, Paint the Town Public Art Project — Bethesda, MD
Deadline: August 7 The Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District and the Bethesda Urban Partnership announce a new public art mural project at the Norfolk Avenue Streetery located on Norfolk Avenue between St. Elmo Avenue and Cordell Avenue in downtown Bethesda, Maryland. Artists who are 18 years of age or older and residents of Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia are eligible, and must have prior experience with the design and installation of large-scale murals. Call for Entries, Embodying Masonic Values-2023, Masonic Library & Museum of Pennsylvania — Philadelphia
Deadline: August 10 For this open art competition, all artwork entries must display a visual interpretation of some aspect of Freemasonry in Pennsylvania, whether it be philosophical, historical, scientific, social, fraternal, charitable, architectural, etc. Selected artwork will be exhibited in the Masonic Temple in Philadelphia. Constructed in 1873, the Masonic Temple has become one of the great “wonders” of the Masonic world. Adorned with some of the finest artifacts of Freemasonry and magnificent lodge rooms based on themes of the ancient architectural world. The Masonic Temple connects us with our past by outwardly displaying our Masonic traditions and values. Located within the Masonic Temple is the Masonic Library & Museum of Pennsylvania, which houses thousands of texts and artifacts relating to the history of the fraternity in the Commonwealth and the founding of our great nation. Opening for Event Manager, Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival — Wheaton, MD
Deadline: August 11 Wheaton Arts Parade (WAP) is seeking the services of an event planner to help produce the 7th Annual Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival on October 15, 2023. WAP will provide site plans and manage registration, including the identification of vendors, exhibitors, performers, parade participants, and volunteers. Contractor will manage all logistical aspects related to (1) the parade, (2) the festival art vendors, exhibitors and food/beverage vendors, and (3) the festival entertainment. Call to Artists, VSA Emerging Young Artists 2023: Interchange — D.C.
Deadline: August 18 The VSA Emerging Young Artists Program, a Jean Kennedy Smith Arts and Disability Program, showcases the work of visual artists with disabilities, ages 16-25, who reside in the United States. Fifteen winning artists are selected by a jury. Each winning artist receives a $5,000 award and has one of their submitted pieces selected to travel in a year-long national exhibition. Winning artists are required to attend an all-expenses-paid professional development workshop at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. February 26-29, 2024. Deadline: September 29 From juror Mike Jabbur: “As I consider applications, I have no preference for a single style or approach. I hope to see examples that emphasize practical form and function, sculptural exploration that maintains functionality, and metaphorical teapots that may not function at all—the so-called “teapot as sculpture.” I welcome teapots made with any clay bodies, firing methods, and forming processes.
