The artist, who you may remember from our 2014 Portrait & Figure Festival and more recent workshops, will be here for a double bill: a free talk and a drawing workshop.
In this fast & fun evening workshop, participants will design, construct, and leave with a completed hat or fascinator that they can wear proudly when they descend on Washington.
Born in Alexandria, drawing since age two, and now on his way to teach in Shanghai, Dan Thompson is leading a workshop next month focused on portraiture — specifically, painting the human head in oil.
"Some watercolor artists tend to define wet-in-wet watercolor and glazing watercolor as two totally separate and opposed approaches to the medium. I tend to see them as complementary."
