Meet the Juror

Ksenia Orol

Ksenia Orol (nee: Grishkova) is a curator and exhibitions organizer with an entrepreneurial approach to research, development and acquiring new art projects. Ksenia has worked in the arts management field for 20 plus years in various capacities for art organizations in Washington, D.C. and abroad. Her education includes degrees in Studio Art, Design, and Arts Management including courses in Nonprofit Management. Since 2007, Ksenia has held the Director position at Touchstone Gallery in D.C. Under her direction, the gallery moved into a custom-built, new space in 2010. The gallery was named “Best of D.C.” by The Washington Post and City Paper readers several years consecutively, and it received letters of appreciation about enriching the local community through arts from D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser. Before Touchstone, Ksenia led an effort to establish a contemporary art gallery in London and, before that, a first-of-a-kind photo gallery in Moscow, Russia. Over the years, Orol has organized hundreds of exhibitions. She has been a frequent grant reviewer panelist with The D.C. Commissions for the Arts and Humanities, a juror for the National Cherry Blossom Contests and an art projects juror for Downtown BID. In addition, Orol is the Executive Director of Touchstone Foundation for the Arts, a non-profit organization she helped create in 2012 dedicated to supporting emerging artists.
