Artists may enter works made within the past five years. Open exhibits are not limited by theme, medium, process, or content.

 

Exhibit dates: April 10 – May 6, 2024

 

Juried by: Margaret Winslow

Awards: The Art League Award for Best in Show League credit for $1000 useable in the store, gallery, or school.

Guidelines:
Artist must be a current exhibiting artist member of The Art League gallery. All works must adhere to the Gallery hanging and framing requirements. For 2D artworks, no clip frames are permitted and hanging wire must be attached to the frame, not the backing. 2D artworks must have hanging wire. No saw tooth hangers permitted. Canvases may be gallery wrapped with no visible staples. If the work weighs over 40lbs, the artist must install the piece themselves, if accepted. Artists are free to enter any current work made within 5 years. All artworks must be for sale, gallery retains a 40% commission. Works are chosen by the selected juror’s curatorial vision and aesthetic.

Digital Submission Deadline: March 1, 2024 by midnight. We expect to notify artists of the results two weeks after the deadline. Instructions for drop off of accepted artworks will be emailed to artists.

Meet the Juror

Margaret Winslow

Margaret Winslow currently lives and works in Wilmington, Delaware where she is the Chief Curator and Curator of Contemporary Art at the Delaware Art Museum. She has curated for the Neuberger Museum of Art and The Delaware Contemporary and assisted with exhibits for the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. Recent exhibitions at the Delaware Art Museum include Afro-American Images 1971: The Vision of Percy RicksBlack Survival Guide, or How to Live Through a Police Riot, a 2018 commission by Hank Willis Thomas; Truth & Vision: 21st Century RealismDream Streets: Art in Wilmington 1970–1990; and Retro-Active: Performance Art from 1964–1987. Margaret has served as an evaluator for the Headlands Center for the Arts, an adjunct faculty member at the University of Delaware, and a radio host for Art Watch on WCHE 1520 AM. Public presentations include talks at the Beijing American Center in China, College Art Association, and the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums. Margaret holds a BA in Art History from the University of Mary Washington and an MA in Modern and Contemporary Art, Theory, and Criticism from SUNY Purchase College.
