Meet the Juror

Martha Kennedy

Martha H. Kennedy earned Bachelor’s and Masters Degrees in art history and a Master of Library Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley. As a graphic arts curator for over 20 years in the Prints & Photographs Division at the Library of Congress, she collaborated with colleagues in developing the Library’s graphic arts collections and curated or co-curated twelve exhibitions.

Her publications include Drawn to Purpose: American Women Illustrators and Cartoonists (2019 Eisner award for best comics-related book) and contributions to Cartoon America: Comic Art in the Library of Congress (2006), Humor’s Edge: Cartoons by Ann Telnaes (2004), and journals including American Art, On Paper: Journal of the Washington Print Club, the International Journal of Comic Art, the Great Plains Quarterly, Nebraska History, and California History. In her previous position as curator of the Great Plains Art Museum at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, she curated exhibitions featuring works by regionally and nationally recognized artists.

For Artists

Artists may enter works made within the past five years. Open exhibits are not limited by theme, medium, process, or content.

Digital Submission Deadline: Thursday, July 15, 2021 by midnight.


  • Artist must be a current exhibiting artist member of The Art League gallery.
  • All works must adhere to the Gallery hanging and framing requirements. For 2D artworks, no clip frames are permitted and hanging wire must be attached to the frame, not the backing. 2D artworks must have hanging wire. No saw tooth hangers permitted. Canvases may be gallery wrapped with no visible staples.
  • Artists may enter any current work made within 5 years.
  • Works are chosen by the selected juror’s curatorial vision and aesthetic.

We expect to notify artists of the results ten days after the deadline.
