In Smiles Welcomed, Patrick combines science fiction and nature into whimsical visions to create her surreal paintings. According to the artist, children can wonder how animals can be as big as a planet. Adults can view an elephant in space that reminds them of cartoons of their youth. Seniors can leave the exhibit with a smile on their faces and a little bounce in their step after seeing frogs hopping through space. In Patrick’s view, her work is “not thought provoking, or controversial, and instead describes as playful and cute. We need less seriousness in our lives…my art offers that alternative. My hope is that Smiles Welcomed can give people a fun, short break from reality!”
