Khalid Alaani’s solo exhibit, “The Enemy,” Depicts moments of people’s lives in his home country of Iraq during the American invasion. His current body of work focuses on finding the human in the people he portrays. According to Alaani, “those humans are not aliens. I know them, I feel them, they are a part of me. I become the people I draw. I know what they believe and I tell their stories. I’m drawing their days, their destinies, and their endings.”
