East Asian Brush Painting, Watercolor

Janice Jacobs has studied and enjoyed Chinese Brush Painting since 1998, focusing on flower and bird subject matter and, most recently, Chinese landscapes. She has studied under teachers from Japan, Mainland China, Taiwan and Korea from whom she has drawn insights and techniques to create her own approach to this unique and ancient art form. As a student at the Art League School, she has studied sumi-e with Henry Wo Yue-Kee, Marie Kaneko Shaughnessy, Aiko Erickson, Betzi Robinson and Charlene Fuhrman-Schulz nearly continually since the early 2000’s. She has been a member of the Sumi-e Society of America, Inc. for 20 years and last year exhibited and demonstrated her art with the New Jersey Sumi-e Society group in New Providence, NJ. Janice is a retired Senior Executive with the Department of Veterans Affairs, and holds a law degree from the University of Cincinnati and a Masters Degree in English from the University of Chicago.
