Deadline: Friday, December 17, 2010. You are invited to enter the 3rd Ward Open Call, offering you your own exhibition in New York City, complete with a massive opening reception. The opportunity is right here, and its yours. This is your chance at a 3-month live/work NYC residency, a $5,000 cash grant and access to the resources to help you create a body of work that is larger than the city itself, to present in your very own solo exhibit. NYC has one of the largest concentrations of international art-world players – including artists, buyers, collectors, curators, dealers, critics and enthusiasts – and can be your platform to showcase your vision to the world. Romance – TX
Deadline: Monday, December 27, 2010. Romance: affair of the heart, amour, enchantment, fascination, fling, intrigue, love, passion, relationship, fanciful story or narrative. There are many interpretations of “Romance”. From a couple holding hands to swans swimming on a serene lake. From traditional hearts and flowers to a pair of little birds sitting on a wire. Romance is open to all photographers working in all mediums and styles. Selected images must be printed on paper no larger than 8.5 X 11 inches and will be displayed on the gallery walls unframed, hanging from ribbons and clips. Cash prizes and awards are offered. “Express Yourself” Artists of All Mediums – KY
All mediums & visual styles of art/photography for an exhibit beginning on Febuary 4, 2011 at K.A.S. Gallery in Louisville’s Mellwood Art Center (Louisville, Kentucky). “Discovering the Native Landscapes of Maryland’s Eastern Shore” – MD
Adkins Arboretum announces a call to artists for its twelfth annual Art Competition, to exhibit in February and March 2011 in Ridgely, MD. Love and Things Like Love – KY
Deadline: February 28, 11. May 27 – July 9, 2011. Love has endured as one of the most common topics in creative expression. Love and Things Like Love is an exhibition exploring the topic of love, from the poignant to the profane, from the heartfelt to the humorous. Artists are encouraged to investigate questions regarding the meaning of love such as: What does love look like? Is love a universal concept? What is love’s relevance to contemporary society? How do we experience love on a personal, familial, spiritual or societal level? Artwork may address a wide range of topics including (but not limited to) loss, nurturing, compassion, intimacy, disconnect, affection, or longing. LAL invites artists to openly and creatively interpret the theme. Artists may submit images and/or videos of their work along with an entry form, exhibition statement, and resume for consideration.
